

Chris Young brings her wealth of experience gained both in Australia and overseas to Seniors Living project design. Chris's skill in masterplanning is to thoughtfully exploit the value of a site's natural environment. When designing interiors she creates warm and generous spaces with careful consideration of accessibility.
In 1987, Chris formed her own practice, Christine Young & Associates and in 1989, she joined with Royden Metcalf to form Young + Metcalf. For over 22 years, the Young + Metcalf team gained a reputation for high quality Seniors Living projects. They merged with Suters Architects in 2011. At Suters Young + Metcalf, Chris continues to focus on Seniors Living projects, with particular emphasis on masterplanning, concept design and managing planning approvals.
Chris is involved in several Australian Institute of Architects committees and is a founding member of Constructive Women.


Royden Metcalf has over 30 years experience in the Seniors Living sector. With expertise gained across a broad range of projects throughout Australia, Royden is committed to designing innovative and practical, liveable spaces. His focus is on bringing vision to fruition with emphasis on high quality documentation and successful building procurement.
As part of Young + Metcalf, which he formed in 1989 with Chris Young, Royden became renowned for designing quality Seniors Living projects. He now brings this wealth of experience to Suters Architects, after merging with our practice in 2011. At Suters Young + Metcalf, Royden continues to specialise in Seniors Living projects, providing his expertise through all phases of architectural service.
